Niron and FaitalPRO Debut Rare-Earth-Free Loudspeakers

1/20/2026, 7:49:29 PM

Consumer Electronics

Niron Magnetics and FaitalPRO introduced 8‑ and 10‑inch loudspeakers using Iron Nitride magnets to remove rare‑earth dependence while retaining pro audio performance.

Niron Magnetics and Italian transducer maker FaitalPRO unveiled professional loudspeaker designs that replace rare-earth magnets with Iron Nitride permanent magnets.
The collaboration produced 8‑inch and 10‑inch drivers engineered to integrate Niron’s iron‑and‑nitrogen magnet material, aiming to match or exceed the acoustic performance expected in pro audio transducers while removing reliance on constrained rare‑earth supply chains.
Niron describes Iron Nitride magnets as offering strong flux density and thermal stability suitable for demanding applications; FaitalPRO adjusted motor geometry and materials to preserve sensitivity, linearity and power handling.
Prototypes will be demonstrated at NAMM 2026 and ISE 2026 for direct listening and technical evaluation.
With demand for permanent magnets rising across automotive, industrial and consumer markets, rare‑earth‑free solutions using abundant elements could improve supply‑chain resilience and reduce environmental and geopolitical risks.
The project shows that sustainable magnetics can coexist with high acoustic standards, while further work on scaling production and broader integration remains necessary to move the technology into mainstream professional audio products.
