Kaili begins rare earth drilling in SA Mallee

Kaili Resources' early drilling in SA's Mallee shows encouraging TREO results, with more tests and community consultation planned in 2026.

Kaili Resources is carrying out early-stage rare earth element (REE) exploration across three tenements in South Australia’s Mallee region, around Lameroo, Karoonda and Karte, roughly 200 km east of Adelaide.
Initial roadside drilling in September 2025 delivered laboratory assays to Adelaide measuring individual element concentrations in parts per million and reporting Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) values.
Results were described as encouraging: three samples returned TREO in the 400–550 ppm range, but higher concentrations—around 1,000 ppm—would be more commercially attractive. Other explorers operating near these tenements have reported comparable or higher TREO levels.
Kaili plans further drill testing in the first quarter of 2026, with holes spaced approximately 250–500 m, primarily along public roadsides. The company emphasises exploration rather than immediate mining; if significant mineralisation is confirmed it will seek landholder access, discuss compensation and hold community briefings in Lameroo or Pinnaroo.
Local officials say they are cautiously optimistic while insisting on robust consultation and regulatory safeguards. Rare earths—about 17 elements used in magnets, motors, electronics and batteries—remain strategically important, and Australia was equal fourth in rare earth mine production in 2024.
